'Jersey Shore' Cast Goes on 'Strike'
Image via Wikipedia
The cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" has reportedly gone "on strike" and is refusing to shoot for season 3 unless they get more cash.
Excuse me?
First of all, how does one go on strike from getting drunk, into fistfights and general douchery? Secondly, they can't live on the $10,000 they get per episode just to let people follow them around with cameras? I'd pay that Snookie chick $10 just to go away because I get her confused with the mind-reading hottie on "True Blood."
I guess those gym memberships and full body waxings cost some dime! Who says there is no price tag for one's dignity? Heck, these kids should go for it. They'll need that money to last into the lean years when they'll stoop to doing another reality show about how fat or addicted fame made them.
I can see the appeal of the show for hilarity value but couldn't you just as easily replace these schmos with some other kids out of Jersey? It's not like they are great dramatic actors.
What do I know? I stopped watching MTV after Season 75 of "The Real World." I even remember when MTV played actual music videos most of the day.
I guess that with the music industry taking a hit from illegal downloads, cash-strapped record labels are less willing or able to put money into shooting the kind of music videos that dominated the 1980s and 90s.
I sure hope this situation with THE Situation gets resolved before this crisis erodes the entire American society!
