New Book Makes You a Handy Mr. Fix-It

What guy doesn't love to be handy around the house, save money and come to the rescue of his family whenever things fall apart? Now we have a resource to help us repair the things on our honey-do lists.
A new book, "Real Man's Guide to Fixin' Stuff: How to Repair Anything You Need (or Just Want) to Know How to Fix" (Sourcebooks) by Nick Harper, shows guys how to fix all those ordinary things that break every day and no one seems to know what to do with. No longer will there be anything you own that you'll think isn't worth fixing or that it's cheaper to buy a new one.
You'll be amazed how many things you can fix with this book, a few simple tools, materials, and a bit of patience. Such as:
- Television
- Remote controls
- Weak vacuums
- Lose or noisy floor boards
- Book covers
- Your lady's heel or purse
- Car scratches
- Scratched CDs or DVDs
- Squeaky beds and doors and wobbly chairs/tables
- Cracked bathroom tile
- Blocked toilets and clogged sinks
- Fishing rods
- Worn brake blocks
- Flat tires
- Golf clubs
- Fishing rods
- Torn or stained clothes
- Broken umbrella stems or spokes
- Scratched sunglasses
- Tarnished jewelry
- Microwave ovens
- Toasters
- A leaky dishwasher or washing machine
- And many more!
You get the idea...
This book also gives you tips for improving the things you've got, such as:
- Sharpening scissors, can openers, blender blades, and gardening tools
- Kickstarting underperforming appliances
- Boosting FM radio reception
- Bleeding a radiator
Maybe you paid real close attention when your daddy did all of these things, but I was half in a daze as a kid and always figured I would learn this stuff eventually. Now, with this new book in hand, I can tackle these challenges to my manhood with ease. Yeah, I know, I like being able to do stuff without reading the instruction book too, but I guess it's not a crime to consult someone who knows more than I do and fix things right the first time.
For those of you intimidated by big blocks of text, the book includes helpful diagrams to illustrate.
The author, Harper, is no stranger to knowing what men know and need to know from his experience as a features editor for FourFourTwo (Britain's biggest selling soccer magazine), for Men's Health, The Guardian, Q, and FHM.
