Shocking collapse of LA talk giant 97.1 sends Sam Phillips back to TV
Los Angeles, California – After a 5 year successful run on Los Angeles 97.1 alongside radio powerhouses Howard Stern, Adam Corolla, Danny Bonaduce and Tom Leykis, radio personality Sam Phillips’ show “The Single Life” is making the jump to television on international cable network MavTV.  The network was launched in 2004 and targets men with irreverent sports and entertainment content.
Sam Phillips says, “I am extremely excited about bringing my successful radio program to MavTV and the potential it holds for a show I have worked very hard to develop into a fun and entertaining franchise”.
Hosted by the outrageous Sam Phillips and her “Co-Host with the most one-liners,” Chris Leary, “The Single Life with Sam Phillips” will be a 30 minute lifestyle entertainment show that focuses on sex, dating and relationships.  Whether you’re single and dating or in a relationship, “The Single Life with Sam Phillips” will entertain you and make you laugh. Sam Phillips’ popular radio show has been known for its original advice, outrageous observations, in your face honesty and its regular celebrity guests.
“We’ve been developing “The Single Life with Sam Phillips” for television for a few months now,” commented Rob Stevens, SVP of Programming and Advertising for MavTV, “and with the sudden and shocking shutdown of 97.1 talk radio we saw an opportunity to immediately launch into production so that Sam’s fans have a place to go to see her.”
Stevens continued, “We see Sam as having a unique appeal to a male audience.  She’s a rare sort of woman who can talk to guys like they talk to each other.”
This marks a return to series TV for Sam Phillips, who previously hosted the syndicated talk show, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus,” and the PAX Network program, “Extreme Fakeovers.”
Discussions are still underway with several new radio partners who would continue the “Single Life” radio show and build off the franchise’s new momentum on national cable television with MavTV.
